All About the Sur-Ron Ultra Bee Electric Dirt Bike (2023)

Written by EVNN Staff

The Surron Ultra Bee is one of the latest electric dirt bikes to hit the market, and it is perfect for anyone who loves off-roading. And since it’s electric, it eliminates the need for oil changes and other maintenance typically required for gas-powered dirt bikes, saving you more money to continue your hobby of riding. Given the different upgrades the Ultra Bee has over other models, there’s no wonder why off-roaders have been anticipating its release to the market

Off-road riders will find it easy to love the powerful performance of this bike. The Ultra Bee delivers a significant increase in power, making it a thrilling ride. For riders transitioning from a modified Light Bee X, the power output may depend on the specific tune. While it may not be as fast as a 15-kilowatt tune, it still offers a comparable experience to mode three or four on that bike. The Ultra Bee has a 12.5-kilowatt tune in sport mode, and while it is slightly heavier, it is not significantly so. The throttle mapping on the Ultra Bee is superior to any previous version of the Light Bee when ridden in stock form.

An additional benefit that you get from the Ultra Bee is that like any other electric bike model out there, it does not make any noise, no matter how hard you squeeze the throttle, giving you more locations to ride your bike. This is particularly important as the availability of riding areas is decreasing. This opens up the possibility of new riding venues near homes and cities, increasing the amount of time that you can ride—something you can’t often do with gas-powered bikes without receiving complaints from the residents.

As far as ergonomics go, the Ultra Bee electric dirt bike is a huge step up from the Light Bee X. If you’re used to riding a Light Bee X, you’ll find this bike to be a significant upgrade in terms of ride quality and comfort. It’s not as massive as a standard dirt bike, but it handles just as well and is just as much fun to ride. The bike has a compact and lightweight feel, not unlike a scaled-down KTM Freeride E-XC.

You’ll experience some oversteering, particularly in tight corners. Aside from that, the front end of the bike feels a little twitchy. This problem can be addressed by adjusting the rear sag height, fork height, wheel, and tire size to see how the rake and trail of the front react. Most riders would probably want to change the CSC tires on the Ultra Bee to further avoid front-end issues. The suspension is excellent for the price. Depending on the rider and the terrain, the suspension can feel anywhere from smooth to bouncy. If you’re used to riding traditional dirt bikes or are particularly picky about suspension, you may want to look into upgrading options for this setup, but the Ultra Bee’s suspension remains superior to what the Light Bee has. Luckily, the Ultra Bee offers a significant amount of potential for modifications, particularly in terms of suspension. Given the nature of this bike, it presents a variety of reasonable options for customization and improvement. Overall, most riders will find the Ultra Bee’s suspension more than enough for their riding needs.

Surron Ultra Bee Power

The power on the Ultra Bee electric dirt bike is truly impressive, providing more than enough for a trail bike. While it may not have the same feel as a motocross bike, it reaches a top speed of almost 56 miles per hour. It gives you 87 miles of range on a single charge. Charging also takes around 4 hours. The Ultra Bee can go from 0 to 30 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds. The bike comes with CST tires, which are good, but it wouldn’t be surprising if more buyers would substitute them for CSC tires.  The brakes on the Surron Ultra Bee electric dirt bike are also noteworthy. They are significantly better than those on the Light Bee, as expected. The brake pads on the Ultra Bee also appear to have a longer lifespan than the Light Bee’s.

Surron Ultra Bee equipped with CSC Tires

This bike is essentially a larger, more powerful, and better-suspended version of the Light Bee X. The Surron Ultra Bee electric dirt bike is a great choice for riders looking for a bike that can handle both off-road and street riding. Even in its stock form, this bike is sure to please. However, for those who enjoy modifying their bikes for motocross tracks or serious trails, the Ultra Bee is an excellent platform to start with. The modification options are going to be endless on this bike. The power out of the box is really great, which is going to be suitable for so many people. With a very little tweaking, you’ll probably be able to get even more out of it.

Again, the ergonomic design of the Ultra Bee electric dirt bike is a significant improvement over the Light Bee X. Although it is not as large as a full-size dirt bike, the Ultra Bee feels like a slightly smaller KTM Freeride, However, this is on the bike’s stock form, and making some changes such as moving the foot pegs and installing taller handlebars can greatly improve the ergonomics and make the bike feel much better than the Light Bee X. The bike is more catered toward off-road riders, but stunt riders may also enjoy it. If you want to you could experiment with suspension, wheel and tire, fork height, and sag settings to see if a better remedy for the front end can be found because that’s really the only problem you’ll encounter with the Ultra Bee.

Ultra Bee as Street Legal

Another thing to keep in mind is that the Ultra Bee photos you see online are the street-legal versions, which are not available in the U.S. They may have a tail light and a headlight but they do not pass certain driving regulations. Fortunately for anyone interested in owning an Ultra Bee, all Surron bikes that enter the country this year are going to be given VIN numbers and MSOs. This means you can go to your local DMV and request to have your Surron bike made street-legal. Once you get that out of the way, there’s nothing stopping you from doing whatever you want with your Ultra Bee.

So there you have it. The Surron Ultra Bee is the latest addition to the company’s line of electric off-road bikes, building on the success of its predecessors. The bike’s powertrain system is the heart of this mid-sized powerhouse, and it is designed to deliver precision handling, smooth power output, and advanced off-road traction control. The newly-designed platform helps riders tackle any obstacle with ease, making it a must-have for off-road enthusiasts. You can get the Ultra Bee for $6,499.

It’s definitely more expensive than the Light Bee X but what you get is a more capable and fun electric dirt bike. Plus the Light Bee X is just smaller in everything. Unless you’re a tiny man, there’s no reason for you to even consider buying the Light Bee X over the Ultra Bee, even with the latter’s jaw-dropping price tag.
